This is a new development opportunity whereby we are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Care Assistant to join our team. We will offer a six month development opportunity to train to become a Senior Carer. This will involve both in house and external training and further development opportunities.

As a Care Assistant at Farthings, you will provide person centred care and support our residents to maintain their independence, this will include supporting with personal care, at mealtimes and during activities as well as offering emotional support.

As a Senior Carer you should be able to lead a team and show warmth and support to our residents and their families; helping to promote dignity and positively enhancing the lives of individuals in our care. As a Senior Carer at Farthings, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the delivery of quality of care by continually assessing our residents needs and wishes
  • Developing, reviewing and updating care plans to meet our residents changing physical, social and psychological needs
  • Communicating professionally and warmly with visitors and family, and other health care professionals
  • Promoting high standards of care by ensuring all staff are supervised appropriately and shifts run in a smooth and efficient manner
  • Promoting the Home in a professional manner, by becoming actively involved in raising awareness of the Home within the local community
  • Completing quality audits as requested by the Registered Manager

Previous experience caring for the elderly would be advantageous, ideally you would have a minimum NVQ2 in Health & Social Care and Care Certificate and be willing to work towards an NVQ3 in Health & Social Care as you develop into your senior role. Full training will be given.

Successful candidates are required to have an enhanced DBS and sign up to the update service.

We have a 36 hour contract available.  Shifts are pre-planned on a rota app and additional shifts can be picked up as and when through the app.  The shifts will be 07.00 - 19.00 with the option to pick up additional hours which could be 07.00-13.00 or 13.00-19.00 or 19.00-07.00, shifts include weekends and bank holidays.

As a Cook at Farthings, you will ensure our menus meet the dietary and nutritional requirements for all our residents (max 22) and ensure freshly prepared meals are provided to a high standard.

We are looking for someone who is experienced in cooking homemade traditional meals inclusive of pastry and cakes and is passionate about delivering food which is of a high standard.

You will also prepare foods for residents who require soft diets and for those who are diabetic.

You will manage the home's food ordering, storage, cooking, service and disposal process in accordance with the Food Safety Act 1990 and amendments. You will ensure cleanliness in the kitchen area at all times and undertake deep cleans of the kitchen and all food preparation and storage areas on a regular basis.

You will keep all records required by the Food Safety Act 1990 and the Essential Standards of Quality and Safety 2008.

Previous experience working within a care environment would be advantageous, ideally you would have a Food Safety Level 2 Certificate or be willing to work towards. Full training will be given. Successful applicants are required to have an enhanced DBS and sign up to the update service.
